Overseas Transaction Usage

Checklist before the use

  • Whether the customer possesses his/her own card
    • Only the cardholder can use the card.
    • The Cardholder shall be fully responsible of all damages or loss to use of other people (incl. family members)
    • If your family member would like to use a card, please apply for supplementary card.

  • Whether the name embossed on the card is correct
    • If the name embossed on the card is different from that of your passport, you may confront difficulties or restrictions when using the card.
    • Before departure, please compare your name on the card and your passport. If they differ, be make sure to apply for reissuance.

  • Whether the customer signed on the signature Block
    • Please make sure to sign on the signature block (backside of the card plate). If there is no signature, overseas merchants may reject to accept the card..

  • Length of Stay & Validity Period
    • If your are planning a long-term travel, please be sure to check the validity period of the card.
    • If the validity period would be expired during your overseas travel, please apply for reissuance before departure.

Precautions

  • Overseas Hotel / Car Rental
    • It is possible to get charged with card, even if you reserved hotel with that card but actually paid with cash or any other card, Please contact and check at the hotel’s information desk.
    • If you forgot to cancel or failed to cancel the hotel reservation, you may be charged for cancelation fee and/or No-Show Charge according to the Hotels’s Term and Conditions. Therefore, be sure to check in advance and properly cancel the reservation.
    • Even if you have fully paid for the hotel or rent card, additional charge may be incurred without your agreement if necessary (mini-bar, traffic violation. Etc)

  • Refund and Transaction Cancelation
    • SIF has no right to cancel transactions or sales. Therefore, in order to cancel certain transaction or sales, you must prepare cancelation slip or any other proof.
    • When you cancel hotel/car rental reservation, be sure to get a cancelation code (merchant PIC Information, if necessary). This may be an important proof during disputes/conflicts.
    • Please keep necessary proofs when purchasing goods via online channel (printing certain screen etc.)
    • If you would like to cancel a transaction/purchase at overseas merchant due to quality, price or any other issue, the merchant must agree to return and/or refund.

  • Restaurant/Entertainment
    • If you do not pay the bills by yourself but simply pass out your credit card, frauds may occur. Therefore, we recommend that you check the amount and pay the bill.
    • In case of overseas restaurants, additional charge (tip) may exist within 20% of the total amount. During the payment, please check whether tip is included; if so, indicate X at “tip” section.
    • It is extremely dangerous to visit overseas bars and clubs by following a touting person. Please be aware

  • Precautions – Internet Transaction
    • If you have registered at certain internet site (game, adults, chatting etc.) by inputting your card number and validity date, the site can periodically charge you according to its Terms and Conditions.
    • When you register at an internet site, please be aware of periodic payment. In other words, even if some websites seem to charge only once during the registration process, they in fact charge multiple times by basing their Terms and Conditions. Therefore, be sure to read Terms and Conditions before registration; further, if you do not want to use the service, you must make sure to apply for withdrawal to avoid frauds.
